CASPAL × Niko Romito Laboratorio: The Story Behind Our Fuorisalone 2026 Collaboration

CASPAL × Niko Romito Laboratorio: The Story Behind Our Fuorisalone 2026 Collaboration

The most meaningful collaborations in design do not come from market strategies. They come from affinity: a shared grammar, the same obsession with material, an identical understanding of beauty as rigor. This is how CASPAL and Niko Romito Laboratorio found each other — and from that encounter, NON IL SOLITO CABARET was born: the installation we are presenting at Milan Design Week 2026, at Via Solferino 12, from 20 to 26 April.

This is the story of how two Italian brands — one in collectible design, one in haute gastronomy — discovered they speak the same language.

We were not looking for a sponsor or a showcase. We were looking for someone who shared our idea of simplicity as a form of luxury.

Two philosophies, one shared grammar

CASPAL was built on a precise vision: design objects are not decorative accessories, but instruments of culture. Every piece we produce — from lacquered metal candle holders and centerpieces to furniture and design complements — is the result of deliberate choices: quality materials, artisanal processes, essential geometry. No superfluous element. Only what is necessary, brought to its most complete form.

Niko Romito Laboratorio works with the same logic, applied to food. The Laboratorio is a research project dedicated to the study of taste, ingredients, and the processes that transform raw material. Niko Romito's cuisine is celebrated for its formal clarity: no excess element, no superfluous decoration. Only the ingredient, elevated in its essence.

The point of contact: simplicity as aesthetic

When the two brands met, the convergence was immediate. Both work on the elevation of raw material — metal for CASPAL, the ingredient for Niko Romito. Both reject ornament for its own sake. Both believe that the highest form of luxury is the kind that subtracts, not the kind that adds.

It is on this shared dimension of simplicity that the CABARET collection took shape: sculptural objects in colored metal whose chromatic palette is inspired directly by the chef's raw ingredients — the warm tones of unprocessed ingredients, the sharp contrasts of cooking processes, the visual cleanliness of the finished plate.

How a collection is born: from concept to form

The creative process behind NON IL SOLITO CABARET started from a simple question: what happens when design meets food not as a container, but as an interlocutor?

The answer was not a set of plates or a tableware line. It was something more ambitious: sculptural objects capable of welcoming and elevating the act of serving. Not passive containers, but active presences in the convivial space. Surfaces that engage with food rather than simply hosting it.

The CABARET collection: metal, color, and volume

The objects of the CABARET collection are born from the lacquered metalworking technique that is at the core of CASPAL's production. Each piece is crafted by hand, with manual finishes that create a surface that is dense, deep, almost tactile. The chromatic palette was developed specifically for this project: sensorial tones, inspired by raw ingredients — not the colors of fashion, but the colors of living matter.

Completing the installation, the console tables designed with architect Annunziata Forte: scenic elements that redefine the convivial space, transforming Via Solferino 12 into an environment where design and gastronomy coexist as complementary disciplines. Fuorisalone as a natural stage

The choice of Fuorisalone is not accidental. Milan Design Week is the context in which Italian design presents itself to the world in its most authentic form: not in trade fairs, but in the spaces of the city — shops, courtyards, streets. It is the moment when Milan becomes an open-air laboratory.

Via Solferino 12 — Niko Romito Laboratorio's Milan space — is a place that already carries a history of research and quality. Bringing NON IL SOLITO CABARET to this space means choosing coherence: an installation of contemporary collectible design in a space built for the research of taste.

A project that looks beyond MDW

NON IL SOLITO CABARET does not end with design week. The CABARET collection is designed to enter homes, private spaces, and the tables of those who consider design a daily act of culture. Every object is a limited edition, produced in controlled quantities, with the artisanal care that distinguishes every CASPAL piece.

The collaboration with Niko Romito Laboratorio has reinforced a conviction that underpins everything we do: contemporary luxury is not measured in precious materials or high price points. It is measured in the quality of the thinking behind each object, in the coherence between form and function, in the attention to the detail that is not seen but felt.

For interior designers, collectors, and luxury buyers in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, and Riyadh seeking the finest expressions of Italian craftsmanship: this is the project to watch at Fuorisalone 2026.
